Triptych at The View
Triptych, the annual sixth form art festival, is now on at The View in Bridge Street. From its inception five years ago, Triptych has been a student led collaboration celebrating the work of art students from Peter Symonds College, Winchester College and St. Swithun’s School.
The exhibition at The View follows hot on the heels of a successful period at City Space in the Winchester Discovery Centre.
Sher Kent, museum services manager for Winchester City Council which manages City Space, said:
"This festival has really helped to raise awareness of the quality of artwork produced by sixth form students in Winchester. The students have taken their inspiration from a variety of sources such as the paintings of Francis Bacon, the commercial and industrial use of our coastline, and commercial packaging. Don't miss another opportunity to see the exhibition at The View."
Artwork will also be exhibited at other Winchester spaces, including the Angelus Gallery, The Link Gallery, Café Monde and the Slug & Lettuce.
The organising team for Triptych 2009, directed by upper sixth Peter Symonds student Calliope Koumis, has introduced new events to the festival, including a student fashion show at Winchester School of Art and a lecture to be given by Lucinda Chambers, Fashion Director of Vogue.
Each of the Triptych exhibition venues is open to the public who can go along and see the diverse collection of creative work on display.
