Tower Street Car Park refurbishment
Refurbishment work is commencing at the City Council’s Tower Street Car Park.
The car park will remain open for the duration of the project, with sections on each of the floors being closed off in stages to allow the work to be carried out.
Initial work will focus on repairing water damage caused by building work above the car park. This will be followed by further improvements including: remarked parking bays and pedestrian walkways, refurbished toilets, refurbished walls, landscaping, and new lighting.
Once the work has been completed, there are even plans to display murals created by local art students on the newly refurbished car park walls.
Cllr Keith Wood, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Access, said: “The refurbishment work will be carried out in stages to minimise any disruption to customers. The project will, not only repair the damage caused by overhead building work, it will result in a brighter, cleaner, and safer car park.”
Substantial completion of the refurbishment project is scheduled for June 2009 with a residual phase to take place throughout the summer.
