Christmas Gift Inspiration at Winchester Tourist Information Centre

Shoppers seeking original gift ideas this Christmas will find inspiration at the city’s Tourist Information Centre (TIC) in Winchester Guildhall. Whilst continuing to provide an excellent selection of information about local accommodation, attractions and eating places, the TIC is keen to also draw attention to its extensive range of Christmas gifts.

Following a major refurbishment in the spring, the TIC now offers a range of gifts created by local artists and craftspeople, including unique jewellery and Christmas decorations at prices to suit all budgets.

Jane Austen fans can snap-up mugs, key rings, calendars, and shopping pads featuring either Jane herself or the dashing Mr Darcy. Hampshire lavender gifts are also available along with luxury items such as candles and scented pillows.

Choosing presents to post to family and friends overseas can be something of a challenge and the TIC can help here too, with its superb selection of unbreakable, lightweight items such as tea towels, T shirts and sweatshirts featuring Winchester’s new strapline “Vibrant, Ancient, Cultured”.

Winchester City Council’s Tourist Information Centre Manager, Alison Woods, believes that people will be surprised at the range of gifts on offer. She said: “Everyone gets stuck for ideas from time to time, and pressure can mount as the festive season draws closer.  A trip to the TIC could sort out your Christmas gift list as well as providing you with ideas for family entertainment and outings over the festive season. Ask staff for a copy of the free Christmas in Winchester guide when you pop in to do your shopping.”

The tourist information centre is open from 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and can be contacted on: 01962 840 500 or e-mail: tourism@winchester.gov.uk or via the website at: www.visitwinchester.co.uk.
