Richard Waites’ new exhibition at the view
An exhibition of work by Richard Waites is now open at the View, Winchester’s visual arts space on Bridge Street.
After graduating from Winchester School of Art in 2006, Richard focused his attentions on developing his practice rather than exhibiting. However, he recently took part in “Bonsai”, a group show in Newbury and, after the exhibition at the view, his work will go on display at The Parfitt Gallery in Croydon.
Richard’s paintings use a mixture of retrieved media imagery, cultural styles and visual references.
Reflecting on his work, Richard said: “I am interested in increasing the possible interpretations and expanding the paintings’ internal dialogue. I hope to create a sense of a paused moment in an ever-changing ocean of visual information. This entails a leaning more towards abstraction rather than specific figurative depictions.”
The exhibition will run until 29 February 2008.
