1APP has arrived
As of today (25 February 2008) Winchester City Council has introduced a new and improved system for submitting planning applications.
1APP is the Government’s standard planning application form which from April 6 will become mandatory across all of England’s Local Planning Authorities (LPAs).
In Winchester we are introducing the process early (Monday February 25) to provide people with a transition period and to raise awareness of the important changes.
The intention is that the standardised forms will make the planning application process more straightforward for applicants, as it will replace the majority of forms used across the country that differ in questions, style, layout, and the number of copies required.
It will also be easier to submit applications online via the Planning Portal as applicants will be guided through what information is required and the list of the national and local requirements.
Winchester City Council’s planning team will still be able to accept the old style of application forms until the legislation comes into force on April 6. After this date 1APP will be the only legal way to submit your application, both in paper form and electronically.

Notes
The new system will not affect Minerals consent and Building Control applications.
