West Meon Poll Result

A Parish Poll took place in West Meon on Thursday 18 October. Voters were asked to indicate a Yes or No answer to the following question:

“Are you in favour of a development in West Meon for Affordable/Social Housing of up to 10 units on an Exception Site for people with a strong local connection?”

115 people voted Yes to the question whilst 49 people voted No.

Exception Sites are designated sites where local rural communities can work together to provide affordable homes for local people.

The decision to hold the Parish Poll was made at a parish meeting on Thursday 18 September 2007.

The Parish Poll took place at West Meon Village Hall and was open to all those on the Register of Electors for the West Meon Parish. There was a 27.14% voter turnout.

The results of a Parish Poll are not binding but have to be considered by the Parish Council before it decides its future approach to the issue.

It is understood that the Parish Council will consider the outcome at its meeting on 6 November 2007.
