Kids Dress to Impress!

Winchester Museums have added to the wealth of family activities in the City Museum by giving children the chance to dress up in Edwardian costume.

A series of costumes have been specially made by Bowman Designs; they include an Edwardian lady, a wealthy Edwardian gentleman, a chemist's assistant and a shopkeeper.  The costumes have been carefully researched for their historical accuracy.

Sher Kent, Visitor Services Manager for Winchester Museums, said, "This is a great addition to the City Museum and one I know the children will love.  All the materials used are authentic for the period and we have also included various hats and other accessories for the children to try on.  The children will be able to role-play outside the reconstructed Edwardian shops situated on the ground floor of the museum"

Patricia Stallard, Portfolio holder for Culture, Heritage and Sport commented, "Winchester Museums continue to find imaginative and fun new ways to bring the history of the district alive to a wider audience, an approach very much central to our corporate strategy which sets out to improve access for everyone to cultural opportunities."

The costumes will be available for children on the ground floor of the City Museum.

Admission to the museum is free
Opening hours: 10am-5pm Mon-Sat, Sun: noon-5pm
