'Right Here, Right Now' - new exhibition at the Guildhall Gallery

A group of budding artists will enjoy their first experience of exhibiting in a public gallery from this Friday. 'Right Here, Right Now' is a mixed media exhibition of painting, photography and sculpture by final year students reading for a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting at Winchester School of Art (University of Southampton) taking place at Winchester City Council's Guildhall Gallery in the Broadway from 17 March to 2 April.

The exhibition has been organised as an opportunity to show contemporary fine art work outside the context of an art school and within the local community. For the participating artists it's another step towards their aim of becoming professional practising artists, and for some it is their first ever gallery experience. The artists involved in the exhibition are Sarah Maccario, Colin Lee, Tania Robertson and Richard Waites.

The aim of the exhibition is to demonstrate the rich variety of art. Each individual artist offers their own perspective, but they share an aesthetic that is elusive, difficult to define, ephemeral and on occasions lyrical. The hope is that the exhibition as a whole is the real experience, in that it will delight, intrigue and challenge the viewer yet maintain their interest throughout.

See you there!

Admission is free.
