Winchester Guildhall welcomes new Senior Event Manager

The team at Winchester Guildhall has someone new at the helm now Ian Folger, a familiar face in the local hospitality industry, has joined them in the role of Senior Event Manager. Ian brings with him a wealth of experience, expertise and local knowledge from a career already spanning a number of years in some of the best known venues in the area.

Previously employed with McDonald Hotels, most recently at Botley Park and before that at Winchester's Wessex Hotel, Ian's appointment to Winchester Guildhall has been greeted with great enthusiasm by the team there and in particular by the City Council's Guildhall and Conference Manager, Andrew Jacques.

"The post of Senior Event Manager is vital to the smooth and efficient running of the venue and I couldn't be more pleased to have found someone with Ian's background and experience to have filled it. He's already started to make his mark with the team and I've no doubts that this will continue. The whole team appreciate the enormous benefits of having a team leader with such a depth of knowledge, from whom they can learn so much more, and they're all eager to do just that," said Andrew.

Having joined the team just before Christmas Ian has already seen the venue in full swing at one of its busiest times of the year and this has helped him with ideas for the same period in 2006. Ian said, "Winchester Guildhall has always had an excellent reputation for delivering high quality services to a broad range of customers so I'm very pleased to be joining the venue. I'm looking forward to leading the team and helping them develop even more business in the future, whilst ensuring that our service continues to be second to none."

Ian and his event management team at Winchester Guildhall can be contacted on 01962 840 820 or email guildhall@winchester.gov.uk  Further information about the venue can be found at www.winchester.gov.uk/guildhall
