Why wait till you're 80 …?

The Mayor of Winchester Cllr Sue Nelmes has decided to throw a tea party to celebrate her 70th birthday this August, beating the Queen by 10 years, and you could join in!

Cllr Nelmes is inviting all those people in the district who turn 70 in July, August or September this year a chance to come to her tea party at Abbey House, Winchester. The first 40 lucky people will be invited to celebrate turning 70 with the Mayor herself at one of the grandest addresses in the district.

Cllr Nelmes said, "Turning 70 is a great milestone and it is fabulous to have the opportunity to share it with the people I'm representing as Mayor this year. I hope people from all corners of the district will apply as it would be lovely to have a diverse group of people sharing their experiences over the last 70 years".

If you would like a chance to come to the party then all you have to do is write to the Mayor stating your name, address, telephone number and date of birth. The closing date for applications is Friday 25 August. If you are lucky enough to be one of the first 40 replies then you will be sent a special invitation which you will have to show when you attend. All applicants must be free on Tuesday 19 September at 3pm.
