Council training awards
The Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Neil Baxter, presented the City Council training awards at a ceremony in his official residence, Abbey House.
The awards were established in 1993 and are presented to members of staff who have completed a period of training and applied it to produce significant benefits to the workplace.
Joint winners of the 2006 award were Karen Vincent, Customer Service Team Leader, and Peter Byrne, ICT Systems Manager.
Karen took part in the design and delivery of the Council's customer service centre training programme during 2005 and herself undertook and completed a Certificate in Supervisory Management. She has used her knowledge to identify areas for improvement and bring about changes.
Peter has completed a degree in Business Management and Public Services at the now University of Winchester and was the only one of seven students to be awarded a First. The degree provided him with background knowledge in a variety of subjects, including e-government and the modernising government agenda.
Other staff to receive training award certificates were environmental health officer Melody Hastings; systems administration officer Nicky Blackmore and systems manager Debbie Cutler.
