Bored and broke? Into Music?

Rock 2 is a new music project for people aged 15 - 18. It will happen every Tuesday evening in Winnall and is for young men and women who live in the Winnall, Stanmore or Highcliffe areas of Winchester.

The project will involve learning or improving guitar, drums, keyboard or voice work, songwriting, recording your own music, beat making and performing at gigs. The sessions are run by a friendly group of tutors led by Brighton-based professional musician Tobin Thomson.

The sessions are free and Tobin says he doesn't mind if people have little or no experience, or just want to make plenty of noise, but they do need to bring along loads of enthusiasm and be ready to work at their ideas and music.

If you want to meet Tobin and his team, try out some instruments, and talk about what you'd like to do with Rock 2, come along next Tuesday, 2 May between 6pm and 9pm to Winnall Primary School, Garbett Road, Winnall. For more information please contact Niki on 01962 848 303.

Rock 2 is a project run by Winnall Rock School and funded by the Local Network Fund and Winchester City Council.

WRS is also looking for some more volunteer tutors, male or female, aged 18 plus with good music skills, who can spare an evening each week to help with this neighbourhood project supporting young people. If you'd like to help and want some more information, contact Winchester City Council's arts development officer Marilyn Michalowicz on 01962 848 175 or email mmichalowicz@winchester.gov.uk
