Help with your Council Tax bill?

Residents in the Winchester district will be getting their Council Tax bills through the post in the next week or so.….but the good news is that many people may be entitled to a Council Tax rebate that they are not aware of.

Winchester City Council's benefits section can help and advise on whether you are entitled to a rebate. By giving them your income and savings details, they can give you an indication straight away.

"Even if people have tried before to get a Council Tax rebate, it's worth trying again because the rebate system is more generous now than it has ever been, particularly for pensioners," said Director of Finance Sheila Boden.

The Benefits Section can be contacted on 01962 848539 or via email at

Residents can also now pay Council Tax and some other Council services through the internet, by touch-tone telephone, and by normal telephone payment. To do so you will need your eight-digit account reference number shown on the front of your bill.
