New reception area at Council offices
Winchester City Council's new reception area opens on Tuesday (21 June) after a two-month closure.
The area has been totally refurbished and redesigned to ensure all services are available at ground-floor level. Previously housing, licensing and electoral registration receptions were on different floors.
The new area includes quick access to customer service advisors, longer opening hours - 8am-6pm - private meeting rooms, computers with internet access for public use, customer toilet, induction hearing loop, children's play equipment and constantly updated information about services on a large plasma screen.
"The new area will make it easier for all our customers to get information or see an officer," said Cllr Kelsie Learney, the City Council's portfolio holder for finance and resources.
"This is just the first part of providing 21st century levels of service to our residents and we are looking forward to the further improvements we will see later in the year," she added.
