Guildhall flushed with success
Winchester Guildhall and Progress Cleaning have scooped awards in the "Loo of the Year 2005" competition.
The Guildhall, run by Winchester City Council, was awarded 4 stars, maintaining the high standard which saw them achieve the same result as the previous year. But cleaning contractors Progress Cleaning went one better than 2004 and received five stars.
The Guildhall loos are the special responsibility of Jenny Penfold of Progress Cleaning, and Guildhall Manager Andrew Jacques praised her dedication.
"As you would expect, we're delighted our loos continue to be recognised in this way. They are always spotlessly clean and well-looked after. It is a tribute to the terrific team spirit at the Guildhall and to the dedication of the cleaners and event assistants who keep the toilets clean for visitors and staff, but in particular to Jenny," he said.
The competition was promoted by the British Toilet Association and the Guildhall has already begun acting on advice in the judges' report.
Additional baby changing facilities have recently been installed in both the men's and women's toilets on the ground floor, and alterations to upgrade the existing facilities, which also serve disabled customers and visitors, are due to be made this February.
