Coffee, Chat and Crayons at Courtyard Café

A coffee morning with a difference - that's the promise for users of the Courtyard Café at Winchester Guildhall from Monday 7 February.

Sugar & Spice is the perfect opportunity for parents and carers to relax over a cup of coffee while their young charges are busy at the Lego table in the children's corner.

To mark the start of Sugar & Spice, the Courtyard Café will be hosting a week of free events for parents and toddlers from Monday 7 to Friday 11 February with a spot of Miki Madness with Miki the Clown; soothing hand massage for parents, and pre-school musical entertainment from Jo Jingles. In addition, every parent who buys a hot drink can enjoy a complimentary delicious spiced muffin.

The coffee mornings will run every weekday morning from 9.30am to 11.30am and will see at-seat waitress service for parents, a pram park and a dedicated area where children can play or draw. Families will also benefit from the existing supply of high chairs, the award-winning toilets and the popular 'Hungry Monkeys' boxes with child-friendly lunch options.

Winchester City Council's Guildhall Manager Andrew Jacques said he was keen to see Winchester Guildhall used by as many local residents as possible.

"We're so close to the town centre and to the Abbey Gardens that the café is a natural stopping point for parents. But we think that Sugar & Spice will also be a chance for local parents - and visiting families - to get together for a chat, whatever the weather, in a stress-free environment."

Glenn Prested, General Manager of the Courtyard Café, added: "It's not always easy to relax when you have a young family. We are confident that Sugar & Spice will provide a real welcome for parents in Winchester - and we hope to see some dads as well as mums. There are new baby changing facilities in the gents' loos as well as in the ladies' so this really is one for all parents."
