Art events prove a big draw
Local families were drawn in to the Guildhall Art Gallery and City Museum in Winchester in large numbers to take part in the recent "Big Draw" art activities.Young artists armed with coloured pencils, crayons and chalks produced brightly coloured portraits inspired by art on the walls of the Guildhall Gallery and by local artist Ali Eales.
Budding archaeological illustrators at the City Museum explored the museum to search out weird and wonderful objects from Winchester's past, and sketched their favourites.
At both sites each child had the opportunity to sign their works of art and leave them on display for others to see in the Big Draw Gallery and Museum displays.
Robin Iles, Education Officer at Winchester City Council's Museum Service said "It was great to see so many local people enjoying themselves drawing, sketching and colouring in the City's Art Gallery and Museum, helping to make this year's Big Draw events a real success".
To see for yourself the artwork produced, visit the City Museum Big Draw event, on display in the Museum in the Square until 21 November. Admission to the museum is free. Open 10-4 Tues-Sat, 12-4 Sun.
