Food warning on imported sausage
The Food Standards Agency is advising that an imported Spanish Chorizo Sausage - Saburi Embutido's - has tested positive for Salmonella. In conjunction with European food authorities the sausage is being withdrawn from sale.
Environmental Health staff from Winchester City Council have been in discussion with a market trader who sold this type of Chorizo sausage from a stall at Winchester Market. The stallholder has withdrawn this product from sale but it is possible that residents may have purchased it over the period 29th - 31st January 2004 and still have some of the product at home. If this is the case it should either be thrown away or returned to the stallholder for a refund.
If the product has been eaten and illness occurs, residents are advised to seek medical help. Further information can be gained from the Council's Environmental Health Service on 01962 848470.
