Smoked trout products recalled

Press Release: 21/12/2004

Smoked trout and smoked trout fillets from Inverawe Smokehouses have been recalled by the manufacturer and Winchester City Council's environmental health team have been in touch with outlets in the district where these products might have been sold.

This follows notification of a Food Alert from the Food Standards Agency and anybody who may have purchased any of these products should not eat them but should return them to where they bought them.

Further advice can be gained from the FSA website or by contacting the City Council's environmental health service on 01962 848520.

Inverawe Smokehouses say they are recalling batch 1865 Whole Smoked Trout and Smoked Trout Fillets, sold through retail outlets nationwide. Both products are sold as variable weight. The use by dates on the product is between 9 -23 December 2004.

Inverawe Smokehouses add "due to a processing fault, the product does not meet our usual high standard, and must not be eaten. Please discard any packs and a full credit will be given by Inverawe Smokehouses. This recall does not affect products sold through Inverawe Smokehouses Mail Order operation."
