Barfield Close improvements
Work begins in January to improve Barfield Close, Winchester. It will take around 6 weeks and there is likely to be some traffic delay as one-way temporary traffic lights will be used. The road will also be closed for three days between 9.30am-4.00pm, on a date to be decided depending on progress, and during this short period the Park and Ride buses will be diverted around Bar End Road.
Work starts on 4 January between the Barfield Close junction with Chesil Street to the scrap yard beyond the arched bridge. Work being carried out by Swanwick Construction on behalf of Winchester City Council will include laying a low voltage electricity main, new street lighting, new highway signage, small lengths of new pavement and the resurfacing of the main road.
