City Council introduce new ways to pay
Winchester City Council residents can now pay their bills on-line or by touch-tone phone.
The move to e-payment services is part of the Council's commitment to providing services electronically by 2005, and increases the options residents have for paying bills.
Customers can now pay for the following services via the internet and touch tone telephone -
- council tax
- business rates
- parking penalty charge notices
- housing and garage rent accounts
- general invoices (Internet only) e.g. housing management and sewerage charges, commercial rents, Piper Lifeline accounts, pitch hire
- housing benefit overpayments
Payments for other services will be made available at a later stage if there is a need.
Internet payments can be made via the Winchester City Council website www.winchester.gov.uk and telephone payments can be made by dialling 0845 6024438 and using the numbers on the telephone key pad to enter the account and payment details.
"This is another step forward in our drive to provide better services. Residents will have more ways to pay their bills and increased hours in which they can do so," said Cllr Kelsie Learney, Cabinet portfolio holder for finance and resources.
If you want to use the new methods of payment you should have your account details to hand, together with your debit or credit card details. Debit card payments are accepted for all services and credit cards for parking penalty charge notices and general invoices.
Payments made up to 3.00pm will be credited to accounts at the end of the working day. Payments made after 3.00pm will be processed at the end of the following working day.
