Almost edible -
A patisserie with a difference has opened in Winchester's latest new gallery space - the view at 4 Bridge Street. This tantalising tease of fabulous french fancies has been created by local artist Hiromi Kono. Last year Hiromi completed an MA in Fashion and Textiles with distinction, at Winchester School of Art.
While on a research visit to Paris, Hiromi became fascinated by the exquisite French patisseries that line the grand avenues with their delicate cakes and pastries that looked almost too good to eat.
From this, Hiromi has created amazing fashion accessories that are at the same time amusing and delicious. Hiromi's work combines traditional hand crafted techniques with contemporary style. Hiromi's beautiful drawings help guide the creation of the fashion accessories, but are also artworks in their own right.
The display can be viewed daily until 28th April.
