Autumn Fair helps Mayor's Charities
Bishop's Waltham Catholic Community has helped to raise £1090 for the Mayor of Winchester's Charities, Heartstart UK, SNAPS, Magpie Cancer Care Appeal and Bishop's Waltham and Meon Valley Citizens Advice Bureau.
They decided to help the charities to support their local councillor, Mrs Jean Hammerton, in her year as Mayor.
Local businesses were invited to become sponsors of the R. C. Church of our Lady Queen of the Apostles Autumn Fair, creating a partnership that doubled the fundraising efforts.
Fair organiser John Forrest said, "All the money raised from the business community has gone directly to Mayor's charities, who all had representation at the fair. The charities were able to benefit further by raffling goods and services that had been generously donated.''
