Play Area and Conservation Area finally come together

Winchester City Council Members and Officers have announced the result of the play area poll for Orams Arbour, after a long period of public consultation.

Eibe's design, with 46% of the vote, came out on top. Their design incorporates a black bow top fence with green gates, with all the equipment being made from wood and in natural colours.

The process started back in August when the first consultation took place with residents. The main consensus was that people wanted a design that was made of natural products and in natural colours in order to fit in with the important conservation area.

After another two companies were asked to join the design process a public meeting was held on 5 November with everyone having the chance to vote for their favourite. The designs were then displayed in the council's City Offices for a week to give as many people as possible the chance to vote.

Cllr Therese Evans, Portfolio Holder for Community Services said, "Once again the play area polls have been a huge success, with a lot of residents showing interest in the project. It is wonderful to see a community work together to achieve the best result they can".

Installation will start in late January / early February, depending on the weather, with the landscaping work being carried out after the equipment is in place.
