Winchester Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme

Action for Children

Winchester City Council is working alongside Lanterns Children's Centre and Hampshire BESS to encourage mums to be able to breastfeed in Winchester High Street. Retailers in Winchester High Street will be asked to join the Winchester Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme and display the certified logo to indicate that this is a Breastfeeding friendly place.

The two main reasons that mums stop breastfeeding are; there isn't enough help once they have left hospital and mums feel that they can't breastfeed outside the privacy of their home. The Council is committed to making breastfeeding an easier choice for mums who wish to do so.
