Improvements to St. Maurice's Covert
StMCovert

ScottWhitbyStudio have developed further the public realm improvement scheme for St. Maurice’ s Covert. The proposal was initially developed through close conversations with the residents and users of St. Maurice’ s Covert, as well as observations of the space through CCTV footage and filming.

The proposed scheme includes a thorough clean of the space, installing new lighting for the thoroughfare and to highlight the historic tower, and some repaving.

A great deal of care has been given in how we design to make St. Maurice’ s Covert, a forgotten public space in the centre of Winchester, a new civic space for all its users, and a key gateway point to the Cathedral Grounds- we are hoping these new elements will bring life and activity to the space and become a space where people will want to be and look after.
