New partnership creates free football sessions for local children
Hundreds of children across the Winchester district have a chance to take part in free football sessions in the upcoming half term.
Winchester City Council has partnered with ActiveMe 360 – a local social enterprise specialising in improving the wellbeing of children – to re-launch the popular half term football sessions for October.
ActiveMe 360 sports coaches will be delivering the free, fun and engaging sessions to children aged six to 16 years across the district on Tuesday 29, Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 October 2019.
Children who take part in these sessions will then be invited to compete against others in an exciting, competitive tournament taking place at the Winchester Sports Stadium on Friday 1 November 2019.
Cabinet Member for sport, Cllr Malcolm Prince, said:
"We are so fortunate in the Winchester district to have coaches and facilities available throughout the district to encourage children to participate in sporting activities. I am sure the football tournament which is designed for all is something boys and girls alike will eagerly look forward to and parents will appreciate this outdoor activity as something constructive for the half term holiday.”
