Primary Schools in the Winchester district send the message to clean up after your dog
Attention all dog walkers and owners! ‘Please pick up after your dog’ is the message from students of Durley and Swanmore Primary Schools.
Dog Wardens from Winchester City Council visited the schools to pass on top tips to Year 5 students on looking after their own furry friends and the safest way to approach dogs they aren’t familiar with.
Following the visit the children took part in a competition to design a banner to promote the message ‘clean up after your dog’. The Mayor of Winchester, Councillor Frank Pearson, presented prizes of family passes for the Winchester Christmas ice rink and Marwell Wildlife to the winning entrants Emily Bird from Swanmore Primary School and Jessica Innes from Durley Primary School.
Cllr Frank Pearson, Mayor of Winchester, said:
“I am very pleased that these schools have been involved in promoting responsible dog ownership and that each school has produced an excellent banner that will spread the very important message to dog owners to clean up after their dogs.”
To spread the message the winning banners will now go on display around the Winchester district area.
