Chesil Lodge residents enjoy spectacular fireworks display

Residents at Chesil Lodge in Winchester were treated to ‘firework-themed’ refreshments while they watched the sky being lit-up with a dazzling fireworks display on Saturday 3 November.

The event was jointly organised by Winchester City Council and Catering Academy and supported by Radis Community Care.

Due to the building’s excellent city location, they had a great view of the Winchester Fireworks which are annually organised by Winchester Round Table and are held at North Walls Recreation Ground.

Portfolio Member for Housing and Winchester City Council Leader Cllr Caroline Horrill said:

“Since Chesil Lodge opened earlier this year it has made a real difference to the lives of the residents who live there, and events like this help to enhance the fantastic community spirit that is developing.

“We will continue holding events throughout the year so we can build on the vibrant atmosphere and ensure that it continues to be fantastic place for people with extra care needs to live.”

Chesil Lodge was created to help older residents in the Winchester district with care needs live independently.

It offers 52 extra care apartments for rent, shared ownership and sale that cater for residents over the age of 55.

The scheme was completed in July and was funded by Winchester City Council, Hampshire County Council, Homes England and a gift from the late Winchester-born resident Harold Harris.
