Chesil Lodge to open in June
Winchester City Council is delighted to announce that it has received the notice of completion from its contractor for Chesil Lodge, Galliford Try.
Chesil Lodge is a modern development for older people with assessed care needs, offering 52 flats for sale, shared ownership and affordable rent. Purchasers for all sale and shared ownership flats were secured many months ago and the City Council is already over-subscribed with applicants for the rented flats.
The handover of the building will start in May and in June residents will begin to move in.
The scheme provides spacious flats especially designed for independent living and also offers an excellent range of communal facilities, including a restaurant, laundry, treatment rooms and lounges. It will be highly energy efficient, with minimal heating costs subsidised by the latest renewable technology. Residents will also enjoy the benefits of free Wi-Fi throughout the scheme.

I would also like to thank our partners who have all played such an important role in the development, including Hampshire County Council, Homes England and particularly the late Harold Harris, an ex Winchester resident, whose generous bequest to support housing for older people in the city has helped fund the development.”
