Unconference - NOT business as usual!

Did you know that you can help Winchester become a premier business location by not doing business as usual? If you’re interested in finding out how, Winchester City Council is holding its first ‘Unconference’ on Friday 2 March at the Guildhall. It is completely free to attend for local business people and organisations of all sizes.

The event is not a conventional business conference. There is no pre-defined agenda; instead delegates will pitch session themes to each other and these will form the programme for the day’s activities. This is because everyone is equal in importance at an unconference, and all participants will get the chance to have their say.

The event will focus on the theme: How can Winchester be a premier business location? It is a theme that is designed to stimulate innovative ideas. The Unconference will run from 9:30am to 4pm and all participants will have the opportunity to network freely throughout the day. Organised by AHA Digital Ltd and supported by UKGovCamp and NquiringMinds, a light lunch will be provided at the event and all costs are being covered by Winchester City Council and business sponsors.

Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Business Partnerships Cllr Robert Humby said:

We are really excited about hosting Winchester’s first Unconference. It’s going to be a great opportunity for the Council to get together with local business people and provide a forum for them to network and share best practice with each other. We are committed to enabling business growth across the district and look forward to Winchester becoming a premier business location.

Places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis, so early booking is recommended. To book your space visit http://bit.ly/Winchbiz. Delegates who have signed up to the Winchester unconference are encouraged to talk about the event on social media using the hashtag #WinchBiz.

It is intended that the Council, working with AHA Digital, will organise a second event – a hack day – which will identify practical solutions to the issues explored at the Winchester unconference.

If you are interested in sponsorship opportunities for either event, please contact Mark Braggins from AHA Digital Ltd at bilbobraggins99@gmail.com or phone 07743 817215.
