Description

The Orchestra Session presents its debut concert, "The First Movement" - an evening of Bach, Pachelbel, Vivaldi, Mendelssohn and Dvořák performed by twenty string players in the atmospheric surroundings of the Chapel, Hospital of St Cross. The Orchestra Session is a new Winchester-based chamber orchestra built on a simple principle: Professional and exceptional amateur musicians share the stage on equal footing, paid the same rate for the same role under the real Making Music/Musicians' Union Freelance Orchestral Agreement.

As a Community Interest Company, we also donate a share of every ticket to charities that widen access to music education. The programme opens with Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and the Air from Orchestral Suite No. 3, followed by Pachelbel's Canon in D and highlights from Vivaldi's Four Seasons. After the interval, Mendelssohn's String Symphony No. 10 leads into Dvořák's Serenade for Strings to close the evening.
