Retired police detective Paul Stickler recounts the story of James Hanratty and the A6 murder, told through the accounts of Valerie Storie, the 'Woman who Lived to Tell the Tale'. In this talk, Stickler will present his second book, The Long Silence (2021), an extraordinary and unique account of the infamous A6 murder committed in 1961. This is a book told from the surviving victim’s perspective and offers a deeper insight into the police investigation.
The book, The Long Silence, was published in August 2021. Paul Stickler has indulged his passion for history and his interest in murder investigations to explore the detail behind some of the most fascinating cases in criminal history. His presentations are absorbing, challenging, entertaining and informative.He is also member of the Crime Writers’ Association, has degrees in history and criminology and is currently reading for his PhD in history and law.
