Elections for Winchester City Council district and parish elections are scheduled to take place on Thursday 4 May 2023.

Winchester City Council District Wards
Winchester City Council is made up of 16 wards with two or three councillors per ward depending on the size. On Thursday 4 May 2023 there will be one seat for all 16 of the Winchester City Council District Wards up for election.

Register to vote
If you are an eligible elector and you are already on the Register of Electors for Winchester , you do not need to re-register for these elections.
Information on how to register is available on the GOV.uk website here. The deadline for applying to register for voting in this election is midnight on Monday 17 April 2023.
EU citizens legally resident in the UK may register for the local government franchise and are able to vote in all elections that use the local government franchise. EU citizens currently retain their rights to vote in local elections even though the UK has left the EU for May 2023.
Details of where your polling station is located will be found on your poll card, which will be sent out towards the end of March 2023.
There's three ways you can vote, you can vote at the polling station, by post or by proxy.

In person at a Polling Station
From Thursday 4th May 2023 you are now required to show photographic identification at polling stations before you can be given a ballot paper.

If you are unable to get to your polling station on Thursday 4 May or would prefer to vote another way to cast your vote, you can register for a postal or proxy vote.

Voting by post or proxy
If you are unable to get to your polling station on Thursday 4 May 2023 or would prefer to vote another way to cast your vote, you can register for a postal or proxy vote.
BY POST
Postal voters will not need photographic identification and will be issued with their postal ballot papers as usual, including postal proxies.
Please download the relevant postal form from the Your Vote Matters website - the deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday 18 April 2023. Please note that you will need to print this form and complete it as a signature is required in order to complete the form.BY PROXY
From Thursday 4th May 2023 if you choose to vote by proxy, then the person who you have trusted to vote on your behalf will have to take their own photographic identification to be issued a ballot paper at the polling station.
