POSTAL VOTES: UPDATE
Return your postal vote
Please complete and return your postal vote in the envelope provided by 10pm Thursday 5 May.
It is getting too late to return your postal vote by post so if you want to make sure your vote will count you should hand deliver your postal vote envelope to the Customer Services Reception or in the post box at the City Council offices in Colebrook Street, Winchester at any time up to 10pm on Thursday 5 May 2022.
You can also take your postal vote envelope to any polling station on Thursday 5 May 2022 by 10pm. Click here for a list of polling stations.
If your postal vote has not arrived at your home
Due to staff absence at Royal Mail, we have been advised there have been delays in postal delivery in some areas of the district. All outstanding post is due to be delivered on Tuesday 3 May 2022.
If your postal vote has not arrived, call the elections office on 01962 848125 and we can arrange to issue you a new postal voting pack up to 5pm on Thursday 5 May 2022
You have to come to the City Offices, Colebrook Street, Winchester between 8.30 am and 5pm to collect your new postal voting pack. Please bring photo identification with you. You can complete your postal vote in reception if you wish, seal it as usual and give it to a member of staff or post it in the Council Post Box outside our front door.
It is getting to late to return your postal vote by post so If you take your pack home to complete, you should take take it to a polling station by 10pm on Thursday 5 May 2022.
Although your postal vote envelope is a priority delivery envelope, if you put your postal vote in the Royal Mail, it can not be guaranteed your vote will be with the council by 10pm on Thursday 5 May 2022.
Elections for Winchester City Council district and parish elections are scheduled to take place on Thursday 5 May 2022.

Winchester City Council District Wards
Winchester City Council is made up of 16 wards with two or three councillors per ward depending on the size. On 5 May 2022 there will be one seat for 15 of the Winchester City Council District Wards up for election.
These are:

- Badger Farm & Oliver's Battery
- Bishops Waltham
- Colden Common & Twyford
- Central Meon Valley
- Denmead
- Southwick & Wickham
- St. Barnabas
- St. Bartholomew
- St. Michael
- St. Paul
- The Worthys
- Upper Meon Valley
- Whiteley & Shedfield
- Wonston & Micheldever

There are 19 parishes that are up for election and these are:

Register to vote
If you are an eligible elector and you are already on the Register of Electors for Winchester , you do not need to re-register for these elections.
Information on how to register is available on the GOV.uk website here. The deadline for applying to register for voting in this election is midnight on Thursday 14 April 2022.
EU citizens legally resident in the UK may register for the local government franchise and are able to vote in all elections that use the local government franchise. EU citizens currently retain their rights to vote in local elections even though the UK has left the EU for May 2022.
Details of where your polling station is located will be found on your poll card, which will be sent out towards the end of March 2022.
There's three ways you can vote, you can vote at the polling station, by post or by proxy.

In person at a Polling Station
We are putting arrangements in place to help ensure polling stations are safe places to vote. We will continue our discussions with public health authorities and the Electoral Commission as we prepare for the elections to make sure we are following the most up to date guidance.
If you are unable to get to your polling station on 5 May or would prefer to vote another way to cast your vote, you can register for a postal or proxy vote. We would encourage anyone who requires a postal vote to apply for one as soon as possible due to an expected increase in the number of postal votes being required for this year:
