Population figures

Results from the 2011 Census show that Winchester's population is 116,600. This is an increase of 9,380 from the 2001 census figure of 107,220.

This is a percentage increase of 8.7%, which is slightly higher than the 7.1% figure for the whole of England & Wales.

The total number of households has increased by 3,762 (also 8.7%) from 43,138 to 46,900.

The wards with the largest population increases are Whiteley and Wickham increasing by 1,034 & 1,689 respectively. The population decreased in only two wards Boarhunt & Southwick (-428) and Littleton & Harestock (-207).
