The general health of residents of Winchester is described as Good or Very Good by 86 per cent of the population, compared to 81.2 per cent for England & Wales.
Only 3.4 per cent of Winchester's population described their health as Bad or Very Bad, for England & Wales the comparable percentage is 5.6 per cent.
In Winchester 2.6 per cent of the population provided unpaid care for 20 hours or more, whilst for England & Wales the figure is 3.8 per cent.
In 2001 the percentage providing unpaid care for 20 hours or more was 2 per cent. Although the percentage of the population providing unpaid care increased by only 0.6 per cent the number of people providing the care increased from 2,118 to 2,939, an increase of 38.7 per cent.
