Please note: during the current Coronavirus (Covid 19) crisis, we are unable to receive any searches by post or payments by cheque. Therefore, please send your requests to landcharges@winchester.gov.uk and we will ring you for payment by card.

All Personal Searches during this situation only, will be emailed to the address on the form submitted.

The Local Land Charges Department provides information to solicitors and other conveyancing professionals, as part of the conveyancing process for land and property sales.

The service provides information on various matters that may affect a property. These include details of planning permissions and restrictions, highway rights and proposals, development proposals for the property, environmental health notices, and building control matters. This information is used by solicitors to advise clients, as part of the process of buying a property.

On average the department deals with around 4,000 searches a year and our turnaround time for a search is still approximately 10 working days.
