Fraud

On 1 July 2015 the Council's Fraud Investigation Team transferred to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Winchester City Council does not investigate fraud on its own behalf. The DWP investigates any allegations of fraud as outlined in The Fraud Act 2006. An Internal Audit Partnership work with Winchester City Council in the effective review and investigation of any reported incidents of fraud and irregularity within the council. All such reviews are undertaken by professionally accredited (CIPFA CCIP) staff, in accordance with the Council’s Anti-Fraud & Corruption and Whistleblowing Policy.

There were no reported incidents of fraud investigations in the internal audit of July 2021
