Small Grants Scheme

This scheme aims to make small grants easily available to local voluntary and community groups. Grants are quick and easy to apply for, and we will offer you advice whenever you need it.

The grants of up to £500 are available for one-off pieces of expenditure on projects, equipment and other items which will help your organisation to do more, to reach more people, to provide better services or to try something different.

Your organisation needs to be a not-for-profit voluntary organisation, community group or registered charity running activities or projects that benefit the residents of the Winchester District. Applications are invited from all charitable community and voluntary groups but applicants should note that priority is likely to be given to those organisations that can demonstrate that their project is linked to the delivery of one or more of the Winchesters District Community Strategy priorities. These are:

  • Promoting the wellbeing of older people
  • Improving access to services
  • Reducing the district's carbon footprint
  • Improving the quality of life in the Stanmore neighbourhood, Winchester
  • Improving the quality of life in the Winnall neighbourhood, Winchester.

Small Grants Application Closing Dates

The deadline for the first round of grants is Friday 4 May, for activities taking place between June and October 2012. We will aim to make decisions as quickly as possible for those planning Jubilee celebrations or other initiatives early in the summer.

There will be a second round of grants for initiatives taking place between November 2012 and March 2013. The closing date will be Friday 7 September 2012.

The Policies and Criteria for the Small Grants programme in 2012/13 can be found below. If you are considering an application please refer to these documents first. If you have queries about the scheme please contact Assistant Directors Eloise Appleby (tel: 01962 848 181, email eappleby@winchester.gov.uk) or Jen Anderson (tel: 01962 848 592, email janderson@winchester.gov.uk) for advice.
