Hockley Viaduct Cycle Route & National Cycle Network 23
Winchester City Council worked with Sustrans - who oversee the National Cycle Network - and Hampshire County Council on a project which ensured Hockley Viaduct was repaired, and that it has a long and useful future ahead forming an integral part of the final stretch of National Cycle Network Route 23 (NCN23).
- National Cycle Network Route 23 NCN23 joins Reading to the Isle of Wight but it did come to a halt either side of Winchester until February 2013 when the Hockley Viaduct, the missing piece, was officially opened and the route was completed.
- Interpretation Scheme Artist Nicola Henshaw will be creating a series of distinctive pictorial panels, benches and way-markers along the viaduct route, based on the contributions and imagination of local residents.
