SDNPA Policy Advice
On 1 April 2011 the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) became the local planning authority for that part of Winchester District that lies within the new South Downs National Park.
In terms of Development Management, Winchester City Council has agreed to carry out functions relating to planning applications on behalf of the SDNPA in relation to the 40% of the District which lies inside the Park boundary, and the 23% of the Council's planning applications generated within this area.
With regard to Planning Policy, the SDNPA will be using the Winchester District Local Plan Review 2006 saved policies and the policies within the Winchester District Local Plan Part 1 - Joint Core Strategy adopted in March 2013, until it is superceded by a Local Plan for the South Downs National Park.
