Display of Shortlisted Designs
The proposals submitted by the two architects in the Station Approach Design Competition were on display at Winchester Guildhall between 9 and 13 May 2016.
This exhibition displayed the two designs that were presented to an independent Design Jury for their review and evaluation. The Jury’s scoring was based on their judgement of a range of criteria relating to urban design. The purpose of the public display was to give members of the public the opportunity to see the proposals that the Jury considered.
The Jury indicated which of the designs it had scored more highly and their marks were added to marks for meeting other technical and financial requirements to produce a highest scoring scheme. The Council’s Cabinet considered as to whether or not to make an appointment to the highest scoring team at their meeting of 8 June and the report regarding the outcome of the Design Competition can be viewed here, with the corresponding minutes from that meeting available to view here. Further reports were taken to the Council's Cabinet on 15 July 2016 and these can be viewed on this page. The report compiled by the Jury, a full breakdown of the Design Competition scores and an analysis of the comments made at the public exhibition can be viewed on this page.
