Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out the Council's policy for engaging with the community and other stakeholders on the preparation of planning policy documents that the Council produces and also planning applications.

SCI Refresh

With the introduction of more effective methods of communication, in particular social media, the Council is currently refreshing the 2007 version of the SCI

This process has commenced with an on-line survey which can be accessed at

We are seeking views on the best methods to engage with individuals and/or organisations regarding planning issues relating to both planning policy and development management.

The survey is available from Thursday 9th March, for six weeks, until 24th April.

After the close of the consultation we will collate the responses and draft a revised SCI which will be subject to a further round of consultation, prior to approval later in the year.

2007 SCI

The Council adopted the SCI on the 25th January 2007, following a number of stages including an examination.

A copy of the 2007 SCI is available to download at the bottom of this page, along with the Adoption Statement, and other documents published during its preparation.
