Winchester Park and Ride General Information

The Winchester Park and Ride (P&R) service offers a convenient and cost effective way to travel into Winchester. We now have Park and Ride sites situated on the East, South and West sides of Winchester to accommodate visitors travelling from nearly every direction. Park and Ride has been developed as a way of reducing traffic volumes and the impact of traffic in the city centre, making Winchester a more pleasant environment.

The South Winchester, Pitt and the East Winchester Park and Ride car parks (Barfield and St Catherine's) have over 1800 parking spaces available. The car parks are all covered by CCTV, with nearly all car parks awarded the Park Mark Safer Parking status for security and safety.

One payment covers the car park and travel for the whole day. The ticket machines at the car parks are Pay and Display.  On payment they produce two tickets - one to display in the vehicle and the other to show to the driver of the Park and Ride bus so you and your passengers (up to 6 passengers) can travel for free. The bus driver will give each passenger their own bus ticket to be used on their bus journeys.

Customers can also pay for parking using their mobile/smart phone and credit/debit card via RingGo. Upon payment with RingGo, just show your text receipt to the bus driver. Further information about RingGo payment can be found on the RingGo Park and Ride Payment page.

Bus Route

The bus route runs between the East Winchester Park & Ride car parks (Barfield and St Catherine's) and the Pitt and South Winchester Park & Ride car park calling at stops in the City Centre, the Railway Station and near the Hospital on Romsey Road.

As the bus route links between the East and South car parks, this enables users to park at either site and use any bus to access all destinations, as all buses serve all stops.

Please note: There are no Park and Ride bus services on Sundays or Bank Holidays.
