Andover Road Roadworks and Park Road Closure

Press Release: 14/06/2017

Works to install a new water main into the Kings Barton development will commence on 14 June and are scheduled to last around six weeks. The connection to the water main at the southern end of the site will provide the supply for the rest of the 2000 home development currently under construction by CALA Homes.

The works are being carried out on behalf of Southern Water by Clancy Docwra and have been agreed by Hampshire County Council. HCC and CALA have worked closely together and with the contractors to minimise traffic disruption.

To facilitate the work, Park Road will be closed from 14 June to 24 June. A traffic diversion will be put in place.

Temporary traffic signals will be installed on Andover Road during off-peak times for the duration of the works. During peak hours (0630-0930 and 1600-1800) both lanes of Andover Road will be open as normal.

CALA Homes’ Technical Director, Rob Westwood said: The installation of the new water main is vital to the creation of the exciting new community at Kings Barton. We appreciate the temporary road closure may cause some inconvenience and will endeavour to do everything possible to minimise disruption to local residents whilst work is carried out.

Councillor Caroline Brook, Portfolio Holder for Built Environment said: We have worked hard with our colleagues at Hampshire County Council, CALA and Clancy Docwra, to carry out this essential work with the least disruption to residents and road users in the area. Once complete the connection to the mains will be a landmark stage in the Kings Barton Development
