Assets of Community Value: Lower Upham Stores, Winchester Road, Lower Upham
Press Release: 21/02/2017
Winchester City Council has received notice of the landowner’s intention to sell Lower Upham Stores at Winchester Road in Lower Upham.
As a registered community asset and in accordance with Section 95 of the Localism Act 2011, the following community interest groups can submit an expression of interest:
• a Parish Council
• a charity
• a community interest company
• a company limited by guarantee
• an industrial and provident society
An expression of interest signifies that a community interest group would like six months in order to prepare a competitive capital bid for Lower Upham Stores.
As a result of a previous attempt to sell the property in 2015 there is currently a ‘protected period’ of 18 months that expires on 22 March 2017. Any disposal of this property on or before this date would be in accordance with the Act.
Winchester City Council must receive a written expression of interest by 23 March 2017. For more information contact Winchester City Council on 01962 840 222 and ask for Steve Lincoln.
