Adoption of Local Plan Part 2 – development management and site allocations
Press Release: 10/04/2017
Winchester City Council formally adopted its Local Plan Part 2 at its Council meeting on Wednesday 5 April.
Part 2 follows several years of extensive work with parishes, local communities and stakeholders and independent examination last year. It focuses on the district’s towns and villages and includes a range of detailed policies.
The Winchester Local Plan now provides strong positive planning policy for the district, setting out areas for growth and those to be protected.
Cllr Victoria Weston, Winchester City Council Portfolio Holder for Built Environment, said:
The adoption of the Plan galvanizes certainty in this ever-changing planning environment. This is excellent news as Winchester is a prime location in the south of England. Development must happen but controlled development is the way forward.
This milestone has only been possible due to the positive collaboration and hard work of our officers with parish councils, residents and councillors, supported by the administration.
