Expert appointed to support the design competition for Station Approach
As part of the design competition for Station Approach Winchester City Council has appointed the services of a Client Adviser from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
RIBA Client Advisers are experienced architects who have achieved accreditation from the RIBA and are qualified to provide advice on strategic decision-making, stakeholder consultation, design brief development, budget-setting, feasibility studies, procurement procedures and appraisals of design proposals from the earliest stages of a project. They act as the hands-on champion for design quality on the project, ensuring a consistent standard from initial sketches through to final details.
The Client Adviser that the Council will be working with is Tina Frost, who is the founder and director of Fluent Architecture Ltd based in London. The company specialise in developments involving regeneration, social and community requirements and they are experienced advisers on design competitions in relation to both Central and Local Government projects. Tina has recently advised the London Borough of Camden on a high profile regeneration project at Central Somers Town which is adjacent to St Pancras International Station.
Despite only very recently coming on board Tina has already assisted the Council in working up the assessment criteria that the shortlisted designs will be scored against. She will also be involved in assessing the initial expressions of interest that the Council are currently seeking and then later will be working with Council Officers during the Competitive Dialogue period that will precede the submission of Best and Final Offers by bidders.

The Council is also continuing its liaison with the City of Winchester Trust to help ensure that the special and unique nature of Winchester is enhanced by this development. The appointment of an RIBA Client Adviser will undoubtedly help shape the regeneration of the area.
