Mayor of Winchester’s Community Awards 2015
Press Release: 08/01/2015
The Mayoralty and Winchester Area Community Action (WACA) are joining forces to recognise organisations, individuals and communities who have given outstanding voluntary service in the Winchester District.
The aim of the awards is to celebrate the selfless activity that goes on in every part of local society and makes the District a truly wonderful place to live.
The Mayor and WACA believe these are important awards for due recognition to be given to the many that give up their time for so much work: enriching people’s lives by giving them access to services, helping organisations to develop and grow, offering companionship and support to people in need, a novel way of doing an existing, valued service and a community that ‘buzzes’ with voluntary activity.
If you know of any individual, organisation or community group you feel may be worthy of a Mayor’s Award and has not yet received one then please consider nominating them.
To make a nomination you can contact your District Councillor or Local Parish Council with details of your nominee/s so that they can submit the nomination on your behalf for consideration by the selection committee. Or you can download the nomination form.
Details of your District Councillor or Local Parish Council can also be found on the Winchester City Council website.
WACA will be contacting its member organisations directly with information about how voluntary and community groups themselves can take part in the nominations process.
The closing date for nominations is 31 January 2015 and the nominees will be invited to attend the awards ceremony on Tuesday 17 March.
